Artist: Hot Gossip
Genre: Disco/Dance
Hot Gossip was a British dance troupe that became famous through their appearances on 'The Kenny Everett Video Show' in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Under choreographer Arlene Phillips, the group performed provocative dance routines to disco and pop music that pushed boundaries of what was acceptable on British television. Their single 'I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper,' performed with Sarah Brightman, became a UK hit in 1978. Hot Gossip represented the glamorous, sexually liberated side of late 1970s disco culture. The troupe launched careers including that of future Pans People member and star Sarah Brightman. Their visual impact and choreographic innovation influenced subsequent pop performances and music video aesthetics.
