Artist: Horslips
Genre: Celtic Rock
Horslips were an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1970, pioneers of Celtic rock who fused traditional Irish music with rock and roll. Their concept albums, including 'The Táin' (based on an Irish epic) and 'The Book of Invasions,' combined electric guitars and rock arrangements with traditional Irish instruments and themes. This approach influenced subsequent Celtic rock bands and demonstrated how traditional music could be updated for contemporary audiences. Hits like 'Dearg Doom' showcased their ability to rock while maintaining Irish musical identity. Horslips were hugely popular in Ireland and developed an international cult following. Their reunion in 2004 proved their enduring appeal. The band's innovative fusion of Irish traditional music with rock established a template that continues to influence Celtic rock and folk-rock worldwide.
