Artist: Horrors
Genre: Alternative Rock/Gothic
The Horrors are a British rock band formed in Southend-on-Sea in 2005, known for their dramatic evolution from garage-punk provocateurs to acclaimed purveyors of atmospheric alternative rock. Their debut album 'Strange House' showcased a raw, gothic garage sound, but subsequent albums revealed remarkable artistic growth. 'Primary Colours' (2009) incorporated krautrock, shoegaze, and post-punk influences to critical acclaim, while 'Skying' and 'Luminous' continued their exploration of expansive, psychedelic soundscapes. The band's striking visual image, featuring dark clothing and dramatic hairstyles, complemented their musical ambitions. The Horrors demonstrated that bands could evolve significantly while maintaining artistic credibility. Their influence on British alternative rock in the 2000s and 2010s was substantial, inspiring bands to embrace ambition and sonic experimentation.
