Artist: Honey Bane
Genre: Punk
Honey Bane is a British punk singer who became notable as one of the youngest performers in the UK punk scene. Her debut single 'You Can Be You' was released in 1979 when she was just 16. Bane's story embodied punk's outsider ethos—she had run away from approved schools and her rebellious background gave authenticity to her punk credentials. She later achieved chart success with the more pop-oriented 'Turn Me On Turn Me Off' in 1981. Honey Bane represented the raw, authentic spirit of British punk and its appeal to young outsiders. Though her music career was relatively brief, she became a notable figure in punk history, demonstrating the genre's ability to give voice to marginalized youth.
