Holly Johnson is a British singer and artist best known as the lead vocalist of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, one of the most controversial and successful bands of the 1980s. The band's debut singles 'Relax' and 'Two Tribes' both reached number one in the UK, with 'Relax' becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time after initial BBC bans due to its suggestive content. After Frankie's dissolution, Johnson launched a successful solo career with the album 'Blast' and the hit 'Americanos.' His flamboyant persona and distinctive voice made him an iconic figure of 1980s pop culture. Johnson later revealed his HIV-positive status and became an advocate for AIDS awareness. His influence on synth-pop, his challenge to censorship, and his role as an openly gay pop star made him a significant cultural figure.
