Hi-Tension were a British funk and disco band from London who achieved success in the late 1970s. Their self-titled debut album and hit singles 'Hi-Tension' and 'British Hustle' showcased their tight, danceable sound that combined American funk influences with British sensibilities. The band represented the quality of British black music during the disco era, competing with American acts on their own terms. Hi-Tension's success demonstrated that British artists could create authentic, credible funk and disco music. Though their commercial peak was relatively brief, they contributed to the development of British dance music and influenced subsequent British funk and soul artists. Their music remains popular among funk and disco enthusiasts.
