Herbie Hancock is an American pianist, keyboardist, and composer who has been at the forefront of jazz innovation for over six decades. Beginning as a prodigy who played with Miles Davis's groundbreaking Second Great Quintet, Hancock went on to explore multiple musical directions including jazz fusion with the Headhunters, electronic music, and hip-hop. His 1983 single 'Rockit,' featuring innovative scratching and early music video techniques, brought him mainstream pop success and Grammy recognition. Albums like 'Head Hunters,' 'Thrust,' and 'Future Shock' demonstrated his ability to evolve with changing musical landscapes. Hancock won an Album of the Year Grammy for 'River: The Joni Letters' in 2008. His willingness to experiment while maintaining jazz credibility has made him one of the most influential and respected musicians in contemporary music.
