Heinz was a British rock and roll singer who achieved fame in the early 1960s as a member of The Tornados and later as a solo artist. His distinctive platinum blonde hair and Gene Vincent-influenced style made him a memorable figure in pre-Beatles British rock. His solo hit 'Just Like Eddie,' a tribute to Eddie Cochran produced by Joe Meek, reached the UK Top 5 in 1963. Heinz represented the British rock and roll scene that existed before the Beatles transformed popular music. His connection to legendary producer Joe Meek places him within an important chapter of British pop history. Though his chart success was limited, Heinz remained a cult figure among fans of early British rock and roll and Joe Meek's productions.
