Heavy Stereo were a British rock band formed in London in 1992, led by vocalist and guitarist Gem Archer. The band's sound drew heavily from 1970s glam rock and classic rock influences, fitting into the Britpop scene of the mid-1990s. Their album 'Déjà Voodoo' (1996) showcased their guitar-driven rock sound. Though Heavy Stereo achieved moderate success, Gem Archer went on to greater fame as a member of Oasis from 1999, replacing Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs. Heavy Stereo represented the classic rock-influenced side of Britpop, emphasizing swagger and guitar riffs over the more pop-oriented approach of some contemporaries. Archer's subsequent success with Oasis validated the talent that Heavy Stereo first showcased to British rock audiences.
