Heavy Metal Kids were a British glam rock band formed in London in 1973, known for their theatrical performances and proto-punk energy despite their misleading name. Led by the charismatic vocalist Gary Holton, the band's sound was closer to glam and pub rock than heavy metal. Their albums 'Heavy Metal Kids' and 'Anvil Chorus' showcased their energetic, guitar-driven rock. Holton's powerful stage presence made them compelling live performers who built a devoted following. After the band's dissolution, Holton achieved mainstream fame as an actor in the TV series 'Auf Wiedersehen, Pet' before his untimely death in 1985. Heavy Metal Kids represented the theatrical, energetic side of 1970s British rock, bridging glam and punk with style and attitude.
