Hans-Joachim Roedelius is a German electronic musician and composer, co-founder of the influential groups Cluster and Harmonia. His pioneering work in electronic and ambient music from the 1970s onwards helped establish entire genres. With Cluster, Roedelius created innovative electronic music that influenced artists from Brian Eno to Aphex Twin. His solo work, including numerous albums of contemplative, atmospheric music, continued his exploration of electronic soundscapes. Roedelius's collaboration with Eno and Michael Rother in Harmonia is considered a landmark in electronic music history. His influence on ambient, electronic, and experimental music is immeasurable. Now in his nineties, Roedelius continues to perform and record, representing one of the last direct links to the pioneering era of German electronic music.
