Hanoi Rocks was a Finnish rock band formed in 1979 that became one of the most influential acts in the development of glam metal. Led by vocalist Michael Monroe and guitarist Andy McCoy, the band combined glam rock aesthetics with punk energy and sleazy rock and roll attitude. Their albums 'Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks' and 'Two Steps from the Move' influenced countless American glam metal bands, including Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe. The band's career was tragically cut short when drummer Razzle was killed in a car accident involving Mötley Crüe's Vince Neil in 1984. Hanoi Rocks' fusion of punk and glam created a template that Los Angeles bands would commercialize in the later 1980s. Their influence on hard rock style and attitude remains acknowledged by subsequent generations of rock musicians.
