Haircut One Hundred were a British pop band formed in 1980, known for their clean-cut image and sophisticated blend of pop, funk, and jazz influences. Led by the photogenic Nick Heyward, the band achieved immediate success with their debut album 'Pelican West' and singles including 'Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl),' 'Love Plus One,' and 'Fantastic Day.' Their sound combined catchy melodies with jazzy brass arrangements, distinguishing them from many new wave contemporaries. The band's preppy image made them teen magazine favorites. Haircut One Hundred's success was brief—Heyward departed for a solo career after their initial success, and the band disbanded after one more album. Their infectious pop sound and sharp image captured a moment in early 1980s British pop perfectly.
