Gun is a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1987, known for their melodic hard rock sound and energetic performances. They achieved their greatest success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with albums like 'Taking on the World' and 'Gallus.' Their biggest hit, a powerful cover of Cameo's 'Word Up!,' reached the UK Top 10 and became their signature song. The band's sound combined heavy guitars with strong melodies and hooks, fitting into the melodic rock tradition while maintaining a harder edge. Led by brothers Mark and Scott Rankin, Gun built a loyal following through constant touring and their reputation as an excellent live act. After disbanding and reforming several times, the band continues to perform and record, maintaining their status as one of Scotland's most beloved rock bands.
