Artist: Greenslade
Genre: Progressive Rock
Greenslade was a British progressive rock band formed in 1972 by keyboardist Dave Greenslade following his departure from Colosseum. The band was unusual in featuring two keyboardists (Greenslade and Dave Lawson) with no guitarist, creating a distinctive sound built around layered keyboards, bass, and drums. Their albums, including 'Greenslade,' 'Bedside Manners Are Extra,' and 'Spyglass Guest,' showcased complex compositions that combined progressive rock ambition with melodic accessibility. The band was known for their inventive use of various keyboard instruments, creating textures that compensated for the lack of guitar. Artist Roger Dean created their distinctive album covers, adding to their progressive rock credentials. Though they disbanded in 1976, Greenslade's innovative approach to progressive rock instrumentation earned them a devoted cult following that persists today.
