Goblin is an Italian progressive rock band best known for their soundtrack work with director Dario Argento on horror films including 'Suspiria,' 'Deep Red,' and 'Dawn of the Dead.' Their distinctive sound combined progressive rock, electronic music, and funk to create atmospheric, often unsettling music that perfectly complemented horror cinema. The 'Suspiria' soundtrack, with its hypnotic main theme, is considered one of the greatest horror soundtracks ever composed. Goblin's influence extends beyond film music into progressive rock, electronic, and horror music communities. Various incarnations of the band have continued performing and recording, with their classic soundtracks receiving renewed appreciation from contemporary audiences. Goblin's fusion of progressive rock with cinematic horror established a template that continues to influence film composers and rock musicians.
