Artist: Girlschool
Genre: Heavy Metal
Girlschool is a British all-female heavy metal band formed in 1978, becoming pioneers for women in rock and metal music. Emerging alongside the new wave of British heavy metal movement, they became closely associated with Motörhead, with whom they collaborated on the 'St. Valentine's Day Massacre' EP. Their albums 'Demolition,' 'Hit and Run,' and 'Screaming Blue Murder' established them as a formidable force in British metal. Hits like 'Race with the Devil,' 'Yeah Right,' and 'C'mon Let's Go' showcased their energetic, no-frills approach to hard rock. The band proved that women could rock as hard as any male counterparts, inspiring generations of female musicians. Despite numerous lineup changes over the decades, Girlschool continued performing, maintaining their legacy as trailblazers who helped open doors for women in heavy music.
