George McCrae is an American soul and disco singer best known for his 1974 hit 'Rock Your Baby,' one of the first disco songs to achieve major international success. The song, produced by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch of KC and the Sunshine Band, topped charts worldwide and helped establish the Miami disco sound. Its relaxed groove and McCrae's falsetto vocals made it an immediate classic. Though he never replicated its massive success, he had additional hits including 'I Can't Leave You Alone' and continued to record throughout the 1970s. His wife, Gwen McCrae, was also a successful soul singer, making them one of the few husband-wife duos to achieve separate chart success. 'Rock Your Baby' remains an essential recording in the history of disco and one of the genre's defining early songs.
