Geoff Love was a British conductor, arranger, and composer who became one of the most prolific figures in British light music from the 1950s through the 1980s. Born to an African-American father and English mother, Love worked his way up through dance bands to become a leading arranger and conductor. He conducted orchestras for countless artists, worked extensively in film and television music, and released numerous albums of instrumental cover versions of popular songs and film themes. Under the pseudonym Manuel and the Music of the Mountains, he created a series of successful Latin-styled easy listening albums. Love's arrangements were known for their craftsmanship and accessibility, making him a fixture of British popular entertainment. His work represents an important chapter in the history of British orchestral pop and easy listening music.
