Gene Loves Jezebel is a British gothic rock band formed in 1981 by twin brothers Jay and Michael Aston. The band became part of the UK's gothic rock and post-punk scene, known for their dramatic sound that combined dark atmospherics with accessible melodies. Their most successful period came in the mid-1980s with albums like 'Discover' and 'The House of Dolls,' featuring the single 'Desire (Come and Get It).' The band's sound evolved from raw post-punk toward a more polished, guitar-driven rock style that achieved some MTV exposure in America. Internal conflicts, particularly between the twin brothers, led to complicated lineup changes and eventually two versions of the band operating simultaneously.
