Fuzzbox, formally We've Got a Fuzzbox and We're Gonna Use It, was a British alternative rock band formed in Birmingham in 1985, known for their playful approach to punk-influenced pop. The all-female quartet embraced a DIY punk ethos with primitive instrumentation and a candy-colored, childlike image. Their early singles like 'XX Sex' and 'Rules and Regulations' were lo-fi, energetic blasts of pop-punk. As they evolved, the band adopted a more polished sound, producing the hit 'International Rescue.' Fuzzbox's significance lies in their challenge to rock's gender norms and technical expectations, proving that enthusiasm and creativity could trump virtuosity. They influenced the riot grrrl movement and maintained a cult following.
