Born in 1914, Chacksfield gained fame with 'Ebb Tide' (1953), showcasing sweeping strings and romantic melodies. His arrangements characterized by rich strings and gentle rhythms made perfect easy listening. Chacksfield recorded extensively for Decca, embodying post-war British light entertainment. He died in 1995, leaving vast catalog representing British easy listening's golden era.
