Four Tops are an American vocal quartet from Detroit who became one of Motown's most successful acts. Formed in 1953, the group's original lineup remained unchanged for over four decades. After signing with Motown in 1963, they achieved massive success with Holland-Dozier-Holland, creating classics like 'I Can't Help Myself' and 'Reach Out I'll Be There.' Lead singer Levi Stubbs' powerful vocals became the group's signature, conveying deep emotion on both uptempo numbers and ballads. The Four Tops' sophisticated harmonies and commanding presence made them one of soul's most exciting live acts. Their longevity and consistency made them unique, selling over 50 million records worldwide.
