Fever Ray is the solo project of Karin Dreijer, one half of Swedish electronic duo The Knife, established in 2008 exploring darker, introspective electronic music. The debut album created unique sonic world combining haunting vocals, eerie synthesizers, and unsettling production. Dreijer's voice, often heavily processed, floats over sparse soundscapes evoking mystery. Music addresses themes of identity, sexuality, and transformation. Visual presentation features elaborate costumes creating complete artistic vision. After nine-year hiatus, Fever Ray returned with 'Plunge' (2017) incorporating aggressive production and queer themes. Dreijer's work has influenced electronic music showing personal and political themes coexistence.
