Feargal Sharkey is a Northern Irish singer who first gained fame as lead vocalist of punk/new wave band The Undertones before launching a successful solo career. Born in Derry in 1958, Sharkey's distinctive tremulous tenor voice became The Undertones' signature. After the band disbanded in 1983, his 1985 single 'A Good Heart' topped the UK charts, showcasing his emotive vocal style in a polished pop context. Sharkey's solo work balanced commercial appeal with artistic credibility. Beyond music, he became influential in the music industry, serving as chairman of UK Music and advocating for musicians' rights and fair streaming royalties, demonstrating remarkable versatility.
