Faster Pussycat were an American glam metal band from Los Angeles formed in 1985, emerging from Sunset Strip's hair metal scene. Led by Taime Downe, the band combined Sunset Strip glam with sleazier blues-based rock creating dirtier sound than many contemporaries. Their 1987 debut established bluesy hard rock style. They achieved success with 'House of Pain,' a power ballad receiving MTV airplay. Faster Pussycat's career was affected by grunge's emergence though they maintained cult following. Downe kept the band active representing Sunset Strip metal's bluesier, darker side.
