Artist: Family Cat
Genre: Alternative Rock
The Family Cat were a British alternative rock band from London formed in 1988 during shoegaze and baggy movements. The band combined psychedelia, garage rock, and indie pop into an accessible yet experimental sound. Led by vocalist Paul Frederick, Family Cat created swirling, guitar-driven rock with melodic sensibilities and psychedelic edge. Their 1989 debut EP 'Tell 'Em We're Surfin'' showcased their ability to blend 1960s psych-rock with contemporary indie aesthetics. Albums like 'Furthest from the Sun' demonstrated songwriting maturity. Though moderate success came in early 1990s indie, commercial breakthrough eluded them. Family Cat's music featured Frederick's distinctive vocals, jangly guitars, and atmospheric production, representing early 90s British indie's underground scene.
