Fad Gadget was the stage name of Frank Tovey, a British avant-garde electronic musician who became influential pioneer of industrial music and EBM. Emerging late 1970s, Tovey was among first Mute Records artists. His sound combined primitive synthesizers with confrontational vocals and provocative lyrics exploring dark themes. Performances were legendary for intensity featuring shocking elements. Albums like 'Fireside Favourites' (1980) showcased ability to create unsettling yet occasionally danceable electronic music. His influence on electronic music, particularly industrial and EBM, is significant. He died in 2002, leaving body of challenging work influencing experimental electronic artists.
