E.Y.C. (Express Yourself Clearly) were an American R&B group formed in the early 1990s, achieving success with their new jack swing and R&B sound. The trio consisted of Damon Butler, Dave Loeffler, and Trey Benfield. Their biggest hit was 'Feelin' Alright' in 1994, which combined smooth R&B vocals with contemporary hip-hop influenced production. E.Y.C.'s music represented the early 1990s trend of young R&B groups appealing to teenage audiences with accessible, dance-oriented R&B. They achieved particular success in Europe and the UK. Despite initial promise, E.Y.C. was unable to sustain commercial momentum and disbanded in the mid-1990s. They represented early 1990s R&B's more pop-oriented wing, demonstrating that R&B groups could achieve success with polished, radio-friendly material. Their music captured a specific moment in R&B's evolution from new jack swing toward contemporary R&B.
