Artist: Escape Club
Genre: Pop Rock
The Escape Club were a British pop rock band formed in London in 1983, achieving major success in the late 1980s. The band consisted of Trevor Steel, John Holliday, Johnnie Christo, and Milan Zekavica. Their biggest hit was 'Wild Wild West' in 1988, which topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the year's biggest songs. Other hits included 'Shake for the Sheik' and 'I'll Be There.' The Escape Club's music combined rock guitars with pop production and catchy hooks, typical of late 1980s pop-rock. Despite the massive success of 'Wild Wild West,' the band was unable to sustain commercial momentum and split in the early 1990s. They represented late 1980s British pop-rock at its most radio-friendly, creating accessible music that achieved success particularly in the American market.
