Artist: Elmore James
Genre: Blues
Elmore James was an American blues guitarist and singer born in 1918, who became one of the most influential blues musicians, known as the 'King of the Slide Guitar.' James's distinctive slide guitar style, featuring intense vibrato and amplified sound, influenced countless rock and blues guitarists. His signature song 'Dust My Broom' is a blues standard covered by numerous artists. James's electrified Mississippi Delta blues helped establish Chicago blues sound. His guitar playing was characterized by aggressive slide work and rhythmic intensity that anticipated rock and roll. Despite suffering from heart problems, James maintained an active career until his death in 1963 at age 45. His influence on rock guitar is enormous, with guitarists from The Rolling Stones to The Allman Brothers citing him as inspiration. James represented blues at its most electrifying and influential, demonstrating blues guitar's power and emotional intensity.
