Echo & the Bunnymen are an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1978, becoming one of the most important post-punk and alternative rock bands. The original lineup consisted of Ian McCulloch (vocals), Will Sergeant (guitar), Les Pattinson (bass), and Pete de Freitas (drums). The band created atmospheric post-punk combining McCulloch's dramatic vocals, Sergeant's psychedelic guitar, and de Freitas's powerful drumming. Albums like 'Crocodiles,' 'Heaven Up Here,' and 'Ocean Rain' are post-punk classics. Hits included 'The Killing Moon,' 'Bring On the Dancing Horses,' and 'Lips Like Sugar.' Despite lineup changes and periods of inactivity, Echo & the Bunnymen have continued recording and touring. They influenced numerous alternative and indie rock bands with their atmospheric, psychedelic approach. The band represents Liverpool's contribution to post-punk, creating music that was both dark and beautiful.
