Eater were an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976, notable for being among the youngest punk bands (with members as young as 15). The band recorded for The Label, releasing singles including 'Outside View' and the album 'The Album.' Eater's youthful energy and raw approach epitomized punk's DIY ethos and rejection of musical professionalism. Despite their brief career (they disbanded in 1979), Eater represented punk's most youthful, unpolished wing. Their age and inexperience were assets in punk's context, demonstrating that anyone could form a band regardless of technical ability. While never as successful as some punk contemporaries, Eater contributed to punk's early development and demonstrated the movement's democratic, anti-elitist principles. They've been rediscovered by punk historians as an example of punk's most genuine DIY spirit. Occasional reunions have kept their legacy alive.
