Earl Klugh is an American acoustic guitarist born in 1953, who became one of the most successful smooth jazz and crossover jazz artists. Klugh's playing is characterized by a gentle, melodic approach incorporating classical, jazz, pop, and Brazilian influences. His nylon-string guitar playing creates a warm, intimate sound that made him hugely successful in both jazz and contemporary instrumental markets. Klugh has released numerous successful albums and collaborated with artists including George Benson and Bob James. He won Grammy Awards and achieved both critical and commercial success. Klugh's accessible yet sophisticated approach to jazz guitar made him one of smooth jazz's biggest stars while maintaining musical credibility. He represents contemporary jazz guitar at its most melodic and accessible, demonstrating that jazz can be both sophisticated and broadly appealing. Klugh continues performing and recording.
