Dollar were a British pop duo consisting of David Van Day and Thereza Bazar, formed in 1978. The duo achieved significant success in the early 1980s with catchy synth-pop and new romantic-influenced songs. Their hits included 'Mirror Mirror (Mon Amour),' 'Give Me Back My Heart,' and 'Hand Held in Black and White.' Dollar's music combined synthesizers with pop melodies and the duo's good looks and stylish image. They were managed and produced by Trevor Horn, who crafted their polished sound. Despite their chart success, internal tensions and changing musical trends led to their split in 1988. Dollar represented early 1980s British synth-pop at its most accessible and commercial, creating radio-friendly pop that balanced style and substance. Both members pursued solo careers and other projects after the split.
