Artist: Diamond Head
Genre: Heavy Metal
Diamond Head are an English heavy metal band formed in Stourbridge in 1976, becoming one of the most influential bands in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM). The band, led by guitarist Brian Tatler, created powerful heavy metal that influenced thrash metal's development. Their songs 'Am I Evil?' and 'The Prince' were covered by Metallica, introducing Diamond Head to wider audiences. Despite their influence, particularly on American thrash metal bands, Diamond Head never achieved major commercial success themselves. Their self-titled album and 'Lightning to the Nations' are considered NWOBHM classics. The band went through numerous lineup changes and periods of inactivity but continues performing. Diamond Head represents NWOBHM's influence on later metal developments, demonstrating that underground British metal bands profoundly influenced thrash metal even without achieving commercial success themselves.
