Definition of Sound's music featured smooth harmonies, hip-hop beats, and soul influences, representing the early 1990s trend of combining rap and singing. Their sound was sophisticated and radio-friendly, appealing to both R&B and pop audiences. Despite their talent and initial success, Definition of Sound was unable to sustain commercial momentum.
