Genre: Pop Rock
Deacon Blue are a Scottish pop rock band formed in Glasgow in 1985, led by Ricky Ross and Lorraine McIntosh. The band achieved major success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their sophisticated pop-rock sound. Hits included 'Real Gone Kid,' 'Dignity,' 'Fergus Sings the Blues,' and 'Wages Day.' Deacon Blue's music combined rock instrumentation with soul and Celtic influences, featuring Ross's thoughtful lyrics and McIntosh's vocals. Their commercial peak came with albums 'Raintown' and 'When the World Knows Your Name.' After initially splitting in 1994, Deacon Blue reformed in 1999 and have continued recording and touring. They represent Scottish pop-rock at its most polished and accessible, creating intelligent, emotionally resonant music with broad appeal. The band maintains popularity particularly in the UK.
