Dan Hartman was an American singer, songwriter, and producer born in 1950, known for his work in disco, rock, and pop. Hartman first gained attention as a member of the Edgar Winter Group before launching a successful solo career. His biggest hit was 'I Can Dream About You' in 1984, featured in the film 'Streets of Fire.' Earlier, his disco hit 'Instant Replay' in 1978 became a club favorite. As a producer and songwriter, Hartman worked with numerous artists. His music combined rock, funk, disco, and pop influences with sophisticated production. Hartman was openly gay during a time when this was uncommon in the music industry. He passed away from AIDS-related illness in 1994. Hartman is remembered as a talented multi-faceted musician who contributed to multiple genres and demonstrated versatility as performer, songwriter, and producer.
