Curiosity Killed the Cat were a British pop band formed in London in 1984, achieving significant success in the late 1980s. The band consisted of Ben Volpeliere-Pierrot, Julian Brookhouse, Nick Thorp, and Migi Drummond. They scored several UK hits including 'Down to Earth,' 'Misfit,' and 'Ordinary Day.' Curiosity Killed the Cat's music combined pop with funk, soul, and jazz influences, featuring tight musicianship and Volpeliere-Pierrot's smooth vocals and stylish appearance. The band's sophisticated sound and image appealed to both pop and soul audiences. They achieved particular success in 1987-1988 but were unable to maintain commercial momentum into the 1990s. The band split in 1992 but have reunited occasionally for performances. They represented late 1980s British pop-soul, creating polished, radio-friendly music with genuine musical chops.
