Artist: Cure
Genre: Gothic Rock
The Cure are an English rock band formed in Crawley in 1978, led by singer, guitarist, and principal songwriter Robert Smith. The band became one of the most influential alternative rock groups, pioneering gothic rock and post-punk while maintaining commercial success. The Cure's music evolved from spare post-punk on early albums to the lush, atmospheric sound of albums like 'Disintegration.' Their extensive catalog includes hits like 'Boys Don't Cry,' 'Just Like Heaven,' 'Lovesong,' 'Friday I'm in Love,' and 'Pictures of You.' Smith's distinctive appearance with teased hair and smeared lipstick became iconic. The Cure's ability to balance dark, introspective songs with pop accessibility made them hugely successful. They've sold over 30 million albums worldwide and continue to tour and record, maintaining their status as alternative rock legends.
