Culture Club were a British pop band formed in London in 1981, fronted by the charismatic Boy George (George O'Dowd), with Jon Moss, Roy Hay, and Mikey Craig. The band became one of the biggest acts of the 1980s, known for their colorful new romantic image and blend of pop, soul, and reggae influences. Their string of hits included 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,' 'Time (Clock of the Heart),' 'Church of the Poison Mind,' and their biggest success 'Karma Chameleon,' which topped charts worldwide. Boy George's distinctive soulful voice, androgynous appearance, and wit made him a global icon. Culture Club sold over 50 million records worldwide. Internal tensions and Boy George's drug problems led to their breakup in 1986. They have reunited several times since, continuing to tour and record.
