Creedence Clearwater Revival (often abbreviated as CCR) were an American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California, in 1967, consisting of John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook, and Doug Clifford. Despite being from California, CCR created a sound rooted in Southern rock, swamp rock, and blues. Between 1968 and 1972, they released a remarkable series of hit singles including 'Proud Mary,' 'Bad Moon Rising,' 'Green River,' 'Fortunate Son,' and 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain.' John Fogerty's distinctive voice, songwriting, and guitar work defined CCR's sound. Their music combined rock and roll energy with roots music authenticity. CCR achieved massive commercial success and critical acclaim but disbanded in 1972 amid internal conflicts. Legal disputes have prevented reunion. CCR's influence on rock music is enormous, and their songs remain classics, demonstrating the power of simple, well-crafted rock and roll.
