The Comsat Angels were an English post-punk band formed in Sheffield in 1978, known for their atmospheric, melancholic sound. The band consisted of Stephen Fellows, Kevin Bacon, Mik Glaisher, and Andy Peake. Comsat Angels created dark, introspective post-punk with jangly guitars, synthesizers, and Fellows' distinctive vocals. Their music was characterized by atmospheric production and emotional depth. Albums like 'Sleep No More' and 'Fiction' received critical acclaim. Despite their quality and influence, The Comsat Angels never achieved commercial success commensurate with their critical reputation. They influenced numerous alternative and indie bands with their moody, atmospheric approach. The band continued through various incarnations until 2004, later performing as Dream Command. The Comsat Angels represented post-punk's more introspective, atmospheric wing, creating music that was both beautiful and melancholic.
