Artist: Classix Nouveaux
Genre: New Wave
Classix Nouveaux were a British new wave band formed in London in 1979 by Sal Solo (Salvatore Rina), Mik Sweeney, and Jak Airport. The band was part of the new romantic movement and achieved moderate success in the early 1980s. Their music combined synthesizers with guitars, creating a dramatic new wave sound. Hits included 'Guilty,' 'Is It a Dream,' and 'Never Never Comes.' Classix Nouveaux's sound was characterized by Solo's theatrical vocals, atmospheric production, and romantic imagery. While never achieving the success of some new romantic contemporaries like Duran Duran or Spandau Ballet, they built a following and released several albums. The band split in 1985. Sal Solo has continued performing and occasionally reforming the band. Classix Nouveaux represented new romanticism's more dramatic, theatrical wing, creating music that emphasized atmosphere and emotion.
