Clannad are an Irish band formed in Donegal in 1970, known for their atmospheric Celtic music blending traditional Irish with contemporary elements. The family band originally consisted of siblings Moya, Ciarán, and Pól Brennan, along with their twin uncles Noel and Pádraig Duggan. Clannad achieved international success with their ethereal sound featuring Moya Brennan's distinctive vocals and the use of traditional Irish instruments alongside synthesizers. They gained wider recognition through their theme music for the television series 'Harry's Game' and 'Robin of Sherwood.' Albums like 'Macalla' brought them commercial success. Clannad's music helped popularize Celtic music internationally and influenced the new age and Celtic fusion genres. Enya, Moya's sister, was briefly a member before her solo career. Clannad won Grammy Awards and continue performing, representing Irish musical heritage on the world stage.
