City Boy were a British rock band formed in Birmingham in 1974, known for their sophisticated, radio-friendly pop-rock. The band consisted of Lol Mason, Steve Broughton, Max Thomas, Chris Dunn, Mike Slamer, and Roy Ward. City Boy achieved moderate success in the late 1970s with albums including 'Dinner at the Ritz' and 'Young Men Gone West.' Their hit '5-7-0-5' reached the Top 10 in the UK in 1978. City Boy's music was characterized by polished production, tight harmonies, and clever lyrics, combining pop accessibility with musical sophistication. Despite their quality and radio-friendliness, City Boy never achieved lasting success and disbanded in 1982.
