Chris Rea is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist born in 1951, known for his distinctive gravelly voice and blues-influenced rock. Rea achieved success primarily in Europe, particularly in the UK and Germany. His biggest hits included 'Fool (If You Think It's Over),' 'On the Beach,' 'The Road to Hell (Parts 1 & 2),' and 'Driving Home for Christmas,' which has become a perennial holiday favorite. Rea's music combines rock, blues, and soft rock with introspective, often road-themed lyrics. His guitar playing is melodic and tasteful, influenced by blues and jazz. Despite numerous health challenges including pancreatic cancer, Rea has maintained his career, releasing over 25 albums. His persistence and distinctive style have earned him a devoted following. Rea represents the thoughtful, blues-influenced wing of British rock.
