Chikinki were a British alternative rock band formed in Bristol in the late 1990s, known for their energetic, eclectic sound. The band consisted of Rupert Browne, Ed East, Boris Exton, Luke Sherwood, and Trevor Wensley. Chikinki created music that blended indie rock, electronic elements, and experimental pop, featuring unconventional song structures and energetic performances. They released albums including 'Lick Your Ticket' and 'Brace, Brace' which received positive reviews from the UK music press. Despite critical acclaim and support from BBC Radio 1, Chikinki never achieved major commercial success. They were part of the early 2000s British indie scene that valued experimentation and energy. The band split up in 2007. Chikinki represented British alternative rock's more experimental, unpredictable wing, creating music that refused to conform to commercial expectations while maintaining pop sensibilities and energy.
