Artist: Carter Usm
Genre: Alternative Rock
Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine (often abbreviated as Carter USM) were an English alternative rock duo formed in London in 1988, consisting of Jim 'Jim Bob' Morrison and Les 'Fruitbat' Carter. The band created a unique sound using guitars, samples, and drum machines, predating the Britpop movement. Their music combined punk energy with samples, electronic beats, and satirical, socially conscious lyrics addressing British life and politics. Carter USM achieved significant UK success with albums like '30 Something' and '1992 The Love Album,' and singles including 'Sheriff Fatman,' 'After the Watershed,' and 'The Only Living Boy in New Cross.' Their energetic live performances built a devoted following. Despite commercial success in the UK, they remained relatively unknown internationally. Carter USM disbanded in 1997 but have reunited for occasional performances. They represented British alternative rock's more political, satirical side.
